In October, WOMEX, a global meeting of the music industry, takes place in Portugal for the first time. The expo will feature conferences, film screenings and concerts.


The organiser of WOMEX 2021, taking place in Porto from 27 to 31 October, has already announced some of the artists who will perform in its showcases. The list celebrates the musical diversity associated with the event, featuring several artists from different styles that combine musical tradition and the latest artistic innovations.


Here is the list of the first 26 artists selected by the jury, representing 31 countries: Al Bilali Soudan (Mali), Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy (Ghana), Aragaki Mutsumi (Japan), Bab L'Bluz (Morocco/France) , Boi Akih (Indonesia/Netherlands), Brìghde Chaimbeul (UK), Chalanes Del Amor (Chile/Mexico), Dongyang Gozupa (South Korea), Ebo Krdum (Sudan/Sweden), Echoes of Zoo (Belgium), Ghetto Kumbé (Colombia), Hudaki Village Band (Ukraine), Kosy (Poland), Manou Gallou (Ivory Coast/Belgium), Mateus Aleluia (Brazil), Mazaher (Egypt), Nakibembe Xylophone Troupe (Uganda), Naïssam Jalal & Rhythms of Resistance (Syria/France), Neuza (Cape Verde), Northern Resonance (Sweden), Pongo (Angola/Portugal), Rangamatir Baul (India), Rodrigo Cuevas (Spain), Sahib Pashazade Duo (Azerbaijan), Sofía Rei (Argentina/USA) and Tolgahan Çoğulu & Sinan Ayyıldız Duo (Turkey).


In addition to the concerts, there will also be conferences and the screening of documentaries about music.


WOMEX 2021 is produced by Piranha Arts together with AMG Music and has the support of Porto City Hall. On the event’s website you will find all information about the programme, participants and tickets.
